The Mk2 Metralla arrived in 1967, and for a brief period it was the fastest 250cc street bike available, setting a class lap record at the 1967 Isle of Man TT. The 250cc, 32hp single was paired with a 5-speed transmission, enabling a top speed in excess of 100 MPH. Approximately 5,000 were built from 1967-1974. The Mk2 used battery lighting and added an ingenious engine oiling system; a hand pump delivered the precise amount of lubricating oil to the gas tank, avoiding the need to premix oil and gas.
This particular example boasts a beautiful restoration conducted by a well-known Southern California collector of iconic 1950s and 1960s European sports bikes. The Bultaco presents exceedingly well and is a numbers-matching example with it’s original frame and engine. The Metralla is an authentically restored, idyllic example of the famous Spanish marque.
