Seattle - Santa Barbara - New York
- A three-owner, west coast car sold new to California
- Unrestored, highly original example with exception of an outside repaint in its desirable original slate grey
- Numbers-matching engine, gearbox and body panels
- Complete with original owner’s manuals, toolkit and jack
- A fantastic and high-point unrestored C Coupe in great original colors
This 3-owner 356 C Coupe was delivered new to Richard Goodrich of Arcata, California, on the state’s northern coast. The Porsche was specified in the desirable color combination of Slate Grey with a red interior, one of the marque’s best combinations.
The long-term second owner, a Seattle area enthusiast, purchased the 356 from the first owner’s CPA, and, with his son, flew to California to collect the car and drive it home. The car received dutiful care from this PCA member. As an example, rubber mats were used to protect the carper on the backs of the rear seats/parcel shelf. Unusual original details are present throughout, including the original Porsche crest decals on the seat belts. Mechanically, the car was maintained by Aker’s, a well known Porsche shop in the Pacific Northwest.
Showing just over 87,000 original miles, the 356 C remains an exceptional unrestored example with one of the best original interiors we’ve seen in a 356. The current owner, a well-known restorer of various collector cars and numerous concours award winner, appreciated the fantastic originality of this particular example and left it largely unrestored during his near 20 years of fastidious ownership.
The 356 has been a frequent attendee of the PNW 356 Bull Sessions and was used on several of Monte Shelton and Porsche club rallies.
With exception of a recent bare-metal, outside-only repaint, the 356 is otherwise highly original. The paint is beautifully done in correct single-stage slate grey, and fits the car perfectly, displaying an accurate bit of orange-peel as one would expect. A high-point car all around, this 356 remains an incredibly sound, solid and correct, numbers-matching example.
To find a 356 C Coupe in such great overall condition is getting more difficult, making this one all the more special as an original slate grey with red example.
